One of our neighbors has shared information regarding our front porch lights*.These lights might do better with LED bulbs instead of regular bulbs. Regular bulbs get hot and could possibly melt the wiring in the base of the fixture and cause a short. This might also apply to your dining room light if it has similar bulbs.
One possible solution is the 40W LED bulbs shown above. They come three to a pack at Home Depot for $8.97 (linked here) though similar bulbs can be found through many sources. These specific bulbs are “Daylight” and are similar in color to the original lighting in accordance with the covenants. LED bulbs use less electricity, generate less heat, and last longer than traditional incandescent bulbs.
With the aid of a step-stool (and when the bulbs are cool), you can reach into the porch light fixtures from the bottom and unscrew the old bulbs and insert the new ones.
Consider checking your bulbs and replacing with LED bulbs to save on electricity and avoid heat-related problems.
* This only applies to the lights above your front door and porch. The light(s) on the side of your garage are a “standard” size.
