Saturday evening some of you might have seen a post shared on our Grace Facebook page. It was from someone outside our neighborhood promoting a “giveaway” of four travel trailers. Pat Davis let me know it was up and I removed it. I am not sure what type of scam this was. It might have just been a prank to see how many people would bite on their offer to give away camping trailers so they would share the post on five Facebook groups. This is a case of “if it seems too good to be true, that’s because it isn’t true.”

The individuals starting the giveaway created their page on the day of the post. Rather than post a real picture from their alleged inventory, they used a picture of a trailer from a dealer’s site in the United Kingdom (see above). These are both red flags. The people behind it were probably just farming for individual’s names, their friends, and groups on Facebook so they could push some more serious (& costly) scam. Or it might have been a prank. Either way, it is another example of why we need to take care on the web.

If you want to see the real trailer (or caravan in the UK), you can see it here: https://www.tamworthcaravans.com/used/caravans/lunar-stellar-10206/
